VIETNAM FESTIVAL IN KANAGAWA

On September 9 and 10, the 2023 Vietnam Festival was held with many special cultural activities in Kanagawa province (Japan). Attending the opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam Trinh Thi Thuy; Vietnamese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan Pham Quang Hieu; Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture Kuroiwa Yuji.

The delegation of Bac Ninh province led by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Chung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also attended the Festival.

 

Leaders of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Embassy of Vietnam, Bac Ninh province and Governor of Kanagawa province, artists of Japanese and Bac Ninh province.

 

Vietnam Festival 2023 was jointly organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan and Kanagawa Prefecture. This was part of the overall activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. The festival was held on a large scale at Zou-no-hana Park, Yokohama Port with more than 100 exhibition booths, promoting rich and diverse culture, tourism, cuisine... and a program introducing Vietnam tourist destination. In addition to street art activities, circus, Chau Van singing, Samurai performances, Karate, Koi music... Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs aslo performed by brothers and sisters and the space for displaying and introducing Dong Ho folk paintings was impressed and enjoyed by visitors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Vietnam Festival, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Chung expressed his impression of the elaborate and thoughtful preparation of Kanagawa Prefecture for this event. With many diverse activities, rich in the cultural identities of the two nations, this is an opportunity for Vietnamese and Japanese people to interact and exchange to enhance mutual understanding, contributing to promoting cooperative relations. The friendship between the two countries in general and Bac Ninh province in particular is increasingly developing better.

On this occasion, Mr. Chung and members of the Delegation along with leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Embassy of Vietnam and the Governor of Kanagawa Province visited the exhibition booths of Bac Ninh Province, provinces and cities of Vietnam and Japan.

Participating in the 2023 Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa province, Bac Ninh province brought two cultural heritages: Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs and Dong Ho folk painting craft (submitting to UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding) contribute to enriching the Festival's activities.
